What is Hip Pain?

Hip pain is a common complaint caused by many possible problems with the precise location of the pain being very important to finding the underlying cause.

Problems in the hip joint itself tend to result on the inside of the hip or groin.  If the pain is on the outside of the hip, upper thigh or outer buttock, the problem is most likely relating from problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons and other soft tissues that are surrounding the hip joint.

Other times, hip pain can be caused by diseases and conditions in other parts of the body, like the lower back or even the knees.  This is referred pain.

Some causes of hip pain are:

  • Arthritis
  • Injuries
    • Bursitis
    • Dislocation
    • Hip fracture
    • Hip labral tear
    • Inguinal hernia
    • Sprains & strains
    • Tendonitis
  • Pinched Nerves
    • Herniated Disc
    • Sacroilitis
    • Sciatica
    • Spinal Stenosis
  • Cancer

How WellnessOne Can Help...

At WellnessOne we have a variety of methods to get you relief from your hip pain.  Depending on what the cause of the problem is decides what direction we decide to take with your treatment.

Chiropractic is a very effective solution for a dislocated hip or any of the pinched nerve problems listed above.

Acupuncture has proven to be amazingly effective in treating the inflammation and pain associated with nearly all of the other causes, and sometimes will provide a solution to the problem and sometimes provide pain management of the symptom.

Another avenue that we like to explore is whether the hip problem is caused by an improper gait/walk.  Often times if there is a foot condition or improper gait the knees, hips, and low back are dramatically affected.  WellnessOne has instituted the use of the FootMaxx Gait Analysis system and can order fully customized orthotics to accommodate and correct the patient’s gait.  We have found that in many cases this will correct the problem and greatly improve their quality of life.

WellnessOne of Redding is Northern California's most comprehensive hip pain treatment center.
